Utter Command provides audio feedback in five situations where it's
important to know what's happening and visual feedback is absent or insufficient.
1. Utter Command repeats the commands that put the microphone to
sleep, "Speech Off", and turn it on, "Speech On".
If you say "Speech Off" when the microphone is already asleep,
Utter Command says "Already off", if you say "Speech On"
when the microphone is already on, Utter Command says "Already on".
These commands allow you to keep track of the microphone without having
to look at the screen (see UC Lesson 1.1).
2. Utter Command repeats the commands that hold down and release
the Shift, Control and Alternate keys.
For example, in response to the command "Shift Hold",
Utter Command says "Shift Hold", and in response to the command
"Shift Release", Utter Command says "Shift Release"
(see UC Lesson 6.10).
3. For UC commands that copy selections to UC Clipboard files, Utter
Command acknowledges that the command has been carried out by repeating
it, then saying "Done".
For example, in response to the command "Copy to 1 File",
Utter Command says "Copy to 1 File, Done" (see UC Lesson 10.3).
4. Utter Command acknowledges Break, Timer and Reminder commands
by repeating the commands, and announces when the time is up with an appropriate
message.
For example, in response to the command "60 Seconds Break",
Utter Command says "60 Seconds Break", turns the microphone off,
waits 60 seconds, turns the microphone on, then says "I'm back".
In response to the command "30 Minutes Call John", Utter
Command says "30 Minutes Call John", waits 30 minutes, then says
"Reminding you, call John" (see UC Lesson 10.11-13).
5. Utter Command acknowledges UC commands that carry out actions
while the microphone is asleep by saying the word "Speech".
For example, in response to the command "Speech Screen Down"
while the microphone is asleep, Utter Command says "Speech" and
moves the cursor down one screen (see UC Lesson 10.17-20).
